On May 9th and 10th, the 9th Multilateral Forum on Science, Technology, and Innovation for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will take place. This forum is promoted by the United Nations, in collaboration with the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).

Science, Technology, and Innovation to Enhance Sustainable Development Goals

Under the topic “Science, technology, and innovation to strengthen the 2030 Agenda and eradicate poverty in times of multiple crises: the effective delivery of sustainable, resilient, and innovative solutions,” this international event will bring together experts and leaders from various sectors to discuss strategies and collaborations that drive innovation and technology towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the UN.

Specifically, this STI Forum will give special coverage to five SDGs:

  • Goal 1: End poverty in all its forms everywhere.
  • Goal 2: End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture.
  • Goal 13: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
  • Goal 16: Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all, and build effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels.
  • Goal 17: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development.

Themes such as sustainable agriculture, public health, climate change, and digital inclusion will be highlighted, among other aspects relevant to sustainable development.

The target audience for this gathering will include a wide range of professionals, academics, government leaders, and representatives from civil society interested in the role of science, technology, and innovation in sustainable development.

From a technological monitoring perspective, this event provides a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences or reference cases in the use of technology and innovation to address the challenges of sustainable development. Its program offers the opportunity to identify new trends and reference experts in the field of sustainability.
