2nd International Congress on Cryptocurrency
Digital money and ICT governance in the EU is the topic of the international congress on cryptocurrency held in the University of Alicante, Spain.

On July 22 and 23, takes place in the University of Alicante, Spain the 2nd International Congress on Cryptocurrency dedicated to new legal and technological standards. The event is promoted by the blockchain and economics research group “BAES BlockchainLab” of the University of Alicante.

The challenge of stable currency and blockchain in the financial sector are under debate and the slogan “Digital money and ICT governance in the EU: new legal and technological standards” is the centre of the congress. In fact, the European Commission adopted a digital finance package on September 24, 2020, which includes a digital finance strategy and legislative proposals on digital resilience and crypto assets, the main underlying technology of which is Blockchain.

There will be a talk by the Spanish Agency for Data Protection and the National Cryptological Center (CCN-CERT), among others. The need to address these issues has become even more evident during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the use of financial applications increasing by up to 72% in Europe, which is also accompanied by an increase in cyberattacks against financial institutions in 38%.
