The Polo Tecnológico de Pando (PTP)was born in the Faculty of Chemistry (CF) in 2001 from a strategy of the University of the Republic (UDELAR) to share their research with the productive sector, in the form of consortia shared risk and reward.

The proposal came from the concern about the low level of investment by the Uruguayan industry in research and development for innovation in products and processes.

The PTP is geared to become a center of excellence in the areas of chemistry and biotechnology, where, from research to innovation and development will generate strong synergies with the pharmaceutical, food and environmental sectors.

On of the specific objective is the construction of a building to provide high quality services and implement a management system at Pando Technology Park where are living together companies and academia. The program also promotes the identification and implementation of new technology platforms, IP training and the installation of the Unit for Environment and Nanotechnology.
