On the 5th and 6th of October it was held in Madrid the VIII Latin American Congress on Science and Technology Indicators, jointly organized by the Ibero American Network of Science and Technology Indicators (RICYT), the Ibero-American Observatory of Science, Technology and Society (CAEU/OEI) and the Institute for Documentary Studies on Science and Technology (IEDCYT/CCHS/CSIC).The main issue was: “social demands and new trends in scientific and technological information” and intended to expand the universe for discussion and participation in relevant issues on indicators of science, technology and innovation. According to this, endeavor to update the agenda for discussion of the traditional topics related to measurement of regional indicators of science and technology and expand the scope of discussion to those areas of work which may provide tools to bridge the gap between science, technology and society.

In order to promote the exchange of experiences, in the seminar participated experts on development and analysis of indicators from various countries and international organizations. Also attend delegates of the national science and technology in Latin America and the Caribbean.
