ICONO is the Spanish R&D Observatory promoted by FECYT and represents one of the main R&D indicator producers in Spain. This R&D Observatory offers specialised information and tools such as:
- R&D indicators on the evolution of science and innovation in Spain, grouped into families such as investment in R&D, high technology, transfer, internationalisation or scientific culture.
- Policies and strategies in the field of scientific research, technological development and innovation at the Spanish level (state and autonomous), the European Union and the OECD.
- Calls and results financed through public R & D & I projects, with access to the subscription in alerts and calls of the FECYT.
- R&D Map institutions with which to locate the essential information of the organisations that carry out R + D + i in Spain.
In addition, it promotes initiatives such as PITEC, Technology Innovation Panel: a panel-type database with statistical information, which allows monitoring of the technology innovation activities of Spanish companies, the result of a joint effort with the National Statistics Institute ( INE). Furthermore, as a specialised observatory, it is related to national open science, technology and innovation information systems.
