The very First Urban Citizen Innovation Meeting PLACEMAKING LATINAMERICA, will be hosted in Valparaíso on November 2017. Organized by Espacio Lúdico, and in association with Project for Public Spaces, Avina Foundation, UN-Habitat and the Civic Wise community.

This passionate International Meeting will be the place where will be discuss and debate about the manifestation of Placemaking Movement in Latinoamerica.

The Placemaking Leadership Forums started in Detroit in 2013. Last year, it took place in Vancouver. This year three events will be held in Amsterdam, Nairobi, and for the first time in a Latin American city, Valparaíso, under the theme: Reconquering Public Space. The concept of Placemaking is conceived as reimagining, reinventing and collectively reclaiming public spaces in accordance with the needs and dreams of the community, sharing and facilitating the creative use of common spaces (neighbourhoods, parks, squares, streets, public buildings) that contribute to the coexistence, well-being and happiness of the people.

Launched in the context of the XX Bienal de Arquitectura Dialogos Impostergables, the meeting will be attended by academics, activists, urbanists, architects, designers, artists, developers, companies, local, regional and national authorities (from Chile and other Latin American countries), as well as neighborhood and community movements. They are interested in researching, thinking, learning, creating and experiencing creative alternatives for using public spaces and cities.
