The 3rd edition of the contest: ‘Building Global Innovators’ promoted by the Institute Universitário of Lisbon (ISCTE-IUL) and MIT Portugal is open. The competition looks for 20 start-ups and university spin-offs from Portugal, Spain and Latin America to compete by prizes of one million of Euro of funding. The deadline to present a project is the 31st of May.

Start-ups or university spin-offs less than 5 years old with an annual turnover less than 2,5 million Euro can submit their projects.

The framework is open in four areas:

  • Natural and Life Sciences.
  • Sustainable Energies and Transport.
  • Information Technologies and Internet.
  • Services and Goods.

The four more innovative projects can receive up to one million of euros for initial investment. In addition to the financial support, the winners will have access to boot-camps, meetings with investors, specific training and support from Portuguese, European and the MIT mentors.

‘Building Global Innovators’ is inspired in the contest ‘MIT $100k’, from which have arisen some of the more innovative U.S. entrepreneurs in the last twenty years.
