The University of Alicante has opened registration for the ninth edition of #InteligenciaUA, its specialist course in strategic intelligence for innovative organisations in the AI era. The programme has been redesigned to explore how artificial intelligence is transforming environmental scanning and how it can help organisations innovate and adapt to a constantly changing environment. More than 190 professionals have already completed the programme.

#InteligenciaUA: From strategy to AI implementation
The University of Alicante launches the ninth edition of its specialist course, “Strategic intelligence for innovative organisations in the AI era,” with an updated programme addressing the challenges and opportunities emerging in the age of artificial intelligence.
Professionals and organisations need to understand what is happening in their industry, track competitor activity, identify emerging technologies and understand customer needs to decide where to invest, what to develop and how to stand out in the market. Yet, an increasingly critical challenge remains: having more information does not guarantee better decisions. We need to know what is relevant, how to verify its reliability and, above all, how to put it to use.
Artificial intelligence opens up new ways to tackle this challenge. It can help speed up information searches, analyse large volumes of data and automate technology monitoring and innovation tasks. But making the most of its potential requires strategy first, followed by practical implementation tailored to each organisation and its specific context.
To address these challenges, the specialist course offers online training combining practical learning, workshops led by professionals and a mentored final project. Participants can take part from anywhere and apply what they learn to their own professional context.
What will you gain from this course?
#InteligenciaUA offers a comprehensive understanding of strategic intelligence, connecting it with strategic management, knowledge management and organisational innovation. Through practical learning, you will explore how AI is transforming the intelligence function and the entire intelligence cycle.
You will learn how to identify the information you need to make decisions, find and analyse relevant sources, and use artificial intelligence to streamline this work. By the end of the course, you will be able to design technology monitoring and intelligence systems tailored to your needs.
How does the course work?
#InteligenciaUA is delivered entirely online, allowing you to study from anywhere and fit learning around your professional commitments. The programme combines learning materials, practical workshops led by specialists, and a mentored final project in which you will work on a real challenge from your professional environment.
The programme is organised into five modules, connecting business strategy with the practical application of intelligence.
1. Understanding strategic intelligence in a changing world
You will learn how to connect strategic intelligence with your organisation’s objectives, strategic management and knowledge management to guide innovation and improve decision-making. This module features sessions with Bartolomé Marco Lajara, Patrocinio Zaragoza Sáez and Mercedes Úbeda García, from the University of Alicante, alongside Alba Santa and Sofía Pires.
2. Designing intelligence systems for decision-making in the AI era
Working with practising professionals, you will learn how to design intelligence systems, select information sources and software tools, analyse findings, and communicate insights that support organisational decision-making. Contributors include Lara Rey from Ferroglobe Innovation; Cristina Triviño from e-Intelligent; Francisco Ricau from the Institute of Information Technology (ITI); and Rubén Arcos from King Juan Carlos University, among other specialists.
3. Exploring patents and technology markets
You will learn how to search and interpret patent and technology market information to identify relevant developments, trends and innovation opportunities. Sessions will be led by Björn M. Jürgens, an industrial property expert at Andalucía TRADE and Spain’s ambassador to the EU IP Helpdesk, and Pablo Navarro, coordinator of Enterprise Europe Network (EEN-SEIMED) at the University of Alicante.
4. Applying AI to information search, analysis and automation
The programme’s main new feature is a module dedicated to applying AI across different stages of the intelligence cycle. You will learn how to use AI for information search and monitoring, data analysis and visualisation, and process automation through intelligent assistants and agents. Contributors include Alba Santa and Javier Fernández from the University of Alicante; Christian Arce from Arturo Prat University (Chile); and Santiago Cantalapiedra, CEO of Cocreanet-Terridata.
5. Developing your own intelligence and innovation project
From the outset, you will identify a challenge related to your professional activity and develop a proposal to address it using what you learn throughout the course. You will receive guidance from a tutor as you develop your project and adapt the tools and methodologies to your organisation’s needs.
All sessions can be attended live or watched later through their recordings.
Who will be teaching the course?
The programme brings together academics from the University of Alicante and professionals specialising in strategic intelligence, technology monitoring and artificial intelligence, who will share their expertise and practical experience across a range of organisational settings.
The course will also feature guest speakers who will share their experience of applying strategic intelligence in organisations, including Antonio Valle (Invattur) and Antonio Puertas Bonachela (Indalva).
Who is this course for?
#InteligenciaUA is designed for professionals and organisations looking to strengthen their ability to understand their environment, identify opportunities and make strategic decisions by incorporating artificial intelligence into their work processes.
It is particularly relevant for business owners, executives, R&D managers and specialists, innovation and business development professionals, consultants, researchers, and technology transfer managers who need a better understanding of their competitive environment and want to use information to drive their projects forward.
You do not need to work specifically in intelligence to benefit from the course. It will help you develop the skills to design technology monitoring and intelligence systems tailored to the needs and resources of your organisation.
How do you enrol?
Registration for the ninth edition of #InteligenciaUA is open until all available places are filled. The course starts in February 2027 and is delivered entirely online.
