The course, taking place from 17 to 19 June 2026, will offer a practical approach to strategically integrating artificial intelligence to monitor and analyse information, understand changes in the environment, automate processes, and improve decision-making in professional contexts.
Universidad de Alicante launches its 2026 Summer Course on AI transformation in innovative organisations
The University of Alicante has launched the summer course “From Data to Action: How Artificial Intelligence Transforms Information into Valuable Decisions”, a training programme designed to address a growing challenge for companies and organisations: managing large volumes of information without losing the ability to analyse it and turn it into effective decision-making.
The course will take place in a hybrid format from 17 to 19 June 2026 and is aimed at professionals working in innovation, strategy, data, communication, R&D, startups and consultancy who want to apply artificial intelligence effectively in their work, particularly in competitive intelligence and foresight strategies.
Using AI is not enough: the real challenge lies in its strategic integration
In today’s environment, understanding what is happening in the market, anticipating competitors’ moves or identifying relevant technological trends is becoming increasingly complex. AI has made it easier to access information and has accelerated processes such as technology watch and environmental scanning, but these advances do not always translate into better decision-making.
Many organisations have already started to incorporate AI-based tools into these areas, yet they still lack a clear strategy for integrating them into their processes for analysis, prioritisation and action, especially given the speed at which these technologies are evolving.
According to recent data from Spain’s National Observatory for Technology and Society, only 11.4% of Spanish SMEs currently use AI. This not only highlights a still limited level of adoption, but also reveals a significant gap compared with the wider European context and the need for practical training initiatives such as this course to support its effective integration into the business ecosystem.
From Information to Decision-Making
Beyond the occasional use of AI tools, this course aims to help professionals and organisations understand how to integrate AI capabilities into strategic business processes as well as activities such as environmental analysis, technology watch and strategic intelligence. It will also explore data analysis, exploitation and visualisation, alongside process automation and emerging advances in AI assistants.

Over three days, the programme will be structured around three main areas:
- the strategic adoption of AI within organisations
- AI tools for searching, analysing and visualising key information
- process automation and the evolution towards AI assistants
A practical approach featuring experts and leading companies
The course combines keynote talks, workshops and panel discussions featuring both professionals working directly with AI across different sectors and leading companies reflecting on their own experiences, with the aim of connecting the programme content to real-world market applications.
The programme will be delivered across three days:
Wednesday, 17 June 2026
The opening day will begin with an introduction by Alba Santa Soriano, course director, followed by the keynote lecture delivered by Andrés Pedreño Muñoz, Professor of Applied Economics and Rector of the University of Alicante (1993–2000), co-founder of Torre Juana IA HUB and President of 1MillionBot, who will explore the impact of artificial intelligence on today’s economy.
This will be followed by a workshop led by Francisco Ricau González, Generative AI Service Manager at the Technological Institute of Informatics (ITI), focused on strategies for adopting generative AI within organisations.
The day will conclude with a panel discussion on business experiences in AI adoption, moderated by Pedro Luis Salazar Díaz-Marta, CEO of Nunity, and featuring Ana Beik, CEO of Golden Owl; Arturo Lizón Nordström, CEO of Energy Sistem; Marcos Valera Santana, CEO of HealthMate; and José Norberto Mazón López, Professor of Computer Languages and Systems at the University of Alicante and co-founder and CDO of InferIA.
Thursday, 18 June 2026
The second day will open with an overview of the current landscape of AI tools for accessing strategic information within organisations, delivered by Alba Santa Soriano and Javier Fernández Martínez from the University of Alicante’s Technology Observatory.
Two applied workshops will then follow. Vicente Javier Barberá Navarro, CEO of Viromii Innovation, will lead a session on using AI tools to obtain key market intelligence, while Alberto Aliaga Rodríguez, Project Manager at SUMAMOOS, will deliver the workshop on AI-driven data analysis and visualisation.
Friday, 19 June 2026
The final day will begin with a practical workshop on process automation and the development of AI assistants, led by Santiago Cantalapiedra Alcoceba, CEO of Cocreanet-Terridata.
This will be followed by a panel discussion on the challenges of artificial intelligence and the future of systematic intelligence and monitoring within organisations, moderated by Nancy Verónica Pérez, President of ALTEC (the Latin-Iberoamerican Association for Technology Management and Innovation), and featuring Cristina Triviño Sánchez, CEO of e-intelligent, and Iñaki Liébana Arribas, Head of Development at InTool.
The closing lecture will be delivered by Alexis Alvear Leyton, Executive Director of the Vice-Rectorate for Artificial Intelligence at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, who will reflect on the course’s key takeaways and their practical application in professional settings, focusing on how to move AI strategies from transformation to action.
The course is also supported by organisations and companies connected to the innovation and applied intelligence ecosystem, including InTool, e-intelligent, Golden Owl, Nunity, SEIMED-EEN, the Alicante Science Park, InnoUA, ALTEC, the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and InferIA. This network of collaborators strengthens the practical orientation of the programme and its connection to real business needs, contributing expertise in areas such as technology watch and competitive intelligence, knowledge transfer and business innovation.
